FINO

I made it, uploaded all 52 weeks, I can't believe it! This really fun to be a part of, and definitely helped me figure out aspects of music creation, mixing, and mastering. Not sure how I'll feel over the coming weeks without a track that I have to work on, but I do look forward to revisiting a few tracks that I created for WB24.

This week, I was using my my M8:01 as a midi controller to play with a few Arturia VSTs, and came up with a main hook that I really liked. I built a track around that using some vocal samples that I chopped up a bit. All the main synths and horn sounds are from the Arturia synths, but drums were created using DW01 Synthdrums, and the higher pitched sliding synth is a reworked version of mikey303's "bittersweet" instrument, included in the default packs on the M8. I really like how this track turned out, but it might be a touch too wordy... please provide any critical feedback! I think this would be classified as "deep house" but I'm terrible with genres - if you have a suggestion, let me know!

The original name for this track was going to be PEZO (weight), GRAVITO (gravity), or SUBEN (down); but since this is the last week, I called it FINO, the Esperanto word for "END".

The visual this week was generated with ffmpeg to generate and warp waveforms of stems and parts of the track, then modified in Shotcut. I was inspired to try and make a video synced to my song after watching OrangeDrink's video from last week. Not as impressive, but still kind of cool!

Thanks to everyone who listened, commented on tracks, and gave me advice and assistance throughout 2024, its been fun!

Immediately knew this would be tight. Great vocal manipulation. So dark and gritty, nice work!

Quite a dark way to end 2024 on, but I can't complain because it sounds excellent. The reverb is dialed in perfectly, creating a convincing space for everything. Where does the vocal sample come from? It's fantastic.

The video is indeed cool! I also want to make visualizations for my own music, so you're definitely on the right track there. A very promising start.

Congratulations on keeping the streak alive in 2024! WB24 is over. We did it! Hope 2025 treats you well.

Thanks! I tried to add a bit of atmosphere/sounds and deep horns to get a darker vibe, glad it worked!

I think the vocals came from a pack on LANDR, but I added some additional reverb and effects after in reaper. I actually used Dragonfly Plate and Hall reverbs from Michael Willis on the vocals and a few other parts of the track to get the overall sound in the track.

I definitely could have toned down some of the flashing, and made it a bit more focused at points, but I think I generally got what I was going for.

Thanks and congrats to you as well! Hope your 2025 is great!

Very into the feeling this one evokes, I'm especially digging the vocals. Cool work with the visuals, too!
