Your vocal chops sound great, especially the last sequence towards the end - I feel you on the intimidation, I also get a weird anxiety that's like "i don't know this person but I'm putting their voice in my song and subsequently destroying it" ... which I suppose is how I get by, rendering the vocals unrecognizable from the original.
That being said - are you on an M8 mk2 aka with a built in mic? If so you should totally try recording your own voice and fucking with it as much as possible on the m8. Record > fuck it up > quick render > fuck it up more > quick render repeat. Its a lot of fun.
There are so many great moments in this track, and the stuttering effects are working so well with the syncopation in the beat. I can totally hear that last bit as a massive big drop for just a teasing few seconds mid-track, its got such presence, really great.
Only one little note - be careful with hard-panned bass wubs. They have a lot more loudness than we perceive because we don't "hear" bass as much as we "feel" it, and when you push all that inherent loudness into one ear it can potentially be painful. The effect is great here but it is just on the edge of being too extreme left/right, in my rarely humble opinion (lol grain of salt as always).
This is a fantastic track. Very challenging to keep a rhythm moving with these slow/sparse beats and you've got it grooving perfectly.
You're clearly a much better and more empathic person than me. I don't spend much time thinking about the vocal samples I use from Splice (in fact, sometimes I use vocal samples from two different artists and until now I haven't considered if they hate each other!). I basically assume they know thousands of beginner music producers like me are going to get their grubby hands on them and do whatever they want. That's why they specifically always say to not use their names of likeness on anything you create using it.
Excellent work with this track. Enjoyed it throughout and extra much the atmosphere and sound design of the first section. When it goes really gnarly at ~0:28 it gave me stank face - love it. The chops sound great too.

Thank you for all the kind words and close listen
.
Yep, I'm on the M2, but I haven't yet recorded my voice. That's even more intimidating than using someone else's vocals haha. I do remember following along with your one night stand series in February and was pretty surprised to read that you recorded your voice for those. It sounded super natural in your tracks. Really this feels like another wall of intimidation for me to overcome, but I'm definitely curious about it. I'll set it as a goal for a future track
Really appreciate the mix feedback. Would you recommend making them quieter? Or just centering them? After listening to it again, I'm definitely noticing a slight pop when it pans to one of my ears. I'm pretty new to mixing so I'm still getting my bearings around what's safe/what's not -_-.

Aww thank you for the kind words
. You do bring up a good point about splice samples being pretty depersonalized. I actually got a subscription this past week and tried finding some for my week 21 track. Still a little intimidating to try and place them in a track, but I guess it's just an exercise in exposure therapy and practice like anything else.
I like the alienish intro a lot! It has a nice contrast to what comes next, and I love how you are programming the kick, is very classic flume!! ![]()
