The One Disease

Another one-battery-charge wonder. I haven't had a lot of time to keep up with WB for the past few so the first thing that clicks gets expanded & oversaturated! I'm low-key trying to push the M8 to make it sound more like an old analogue basement recording from the 80s/90s. It's so pristine I wanna dirty it up, and since I'll break the M8 by slamming it against a brick wall (maybe), I'll just brickwall the render and call it done wink

I love this one, it just soars. When that harmony part kicks in at 1:15? Pure joy. And whatever you’re doing on the render, it sounds great….warm and gritty. Getting some overall Tycho vibes 😊

Love the playful vibe on this - is it really a one battery charge? You got a lot out of that battery! Really nice melodic lines and harmonies here.

Thank you! Wow Tycho, really? Some day I hope I'll manage something as pristine as his stuff!

Thanks! It might have been a charge and a half now that I think about it, but probably around 4 hours of work total. Lots of iteration, copy/transpose (for the harmonies), and conditionals going on to fill out the track!

The M8 can indeed be clinically clean but with some amp distortion, some proper samples, and compression it can sound pretty dirty itself, too. As the Dirtywave name suggests!

You definitely achieved that buzzing analog dirt with this mix.

fun tune! the bendy, playful lead melody immediately reminded me of Solvent - Apples & Synthesizers. the production work is definitely doing the job of recalling a different time for electronic music, good stuff.

I agree with Nullsleep, this sounds super playful! I'm very impressed this was a one-charge-job!!! Very nicely done!!! Did you get it in one sitting, too?

I totally hear you about not having much time to dedicate to WB. I often start a project, get like a phrase that sounds minimally interesting, then say "OK, I guess this is my WB now. Let's try to build it out."

Anyways, great job!
