How to use the Dirtywave M8 to spur a creative breakdown:

Step 1: Make a fake number station in 2019.
Step 2: Sample it, the original stems, the antique music box, and some AM radio static. Use the static to make percussion patches because why not.
Step 3: Create a bunch of Wavsynth patches using its unpredictable Overflow oscillators.
Step 4: Why does this sound like molten garbage?
Step 5: Create a dedicated static track so there's no escape from white noise. Hello, tinnitus.
Step 6: Become secretly addicted to Morphine (the band - unrelated, but not unimportant).
Step 7: Decide there's no saving this track and upload it.
Step 8: Starting over from scratch.

I got more excited to listen to this track the more you described it. The track itself did not disappoint! Harsh, angular, rhythmic fun.

I’ve used Number Stations before as a jumping off point for tracks…this makes me want to revisit that idea. Great stuff!

slightly unsettling but still kinda groovy. i like how unpredictable it is. I actually dig the sound design and the mix too.

This is super fun, I like how many different directions the track goes in but it all works well together!

hello tinnitus my old friend! What a wild ride. Love the origin story as well.

Number stations never sounded this funky before!

I was entirely unaware of the concept of number stations until just now! I mean, I've heard those sampled but always assumed it's some sci-fi thing. Thanks for this!

I'd love to hear what you do with a number station or three!

Thank you! It's a little harsh, but badly-tuned radio tends to be. "Kinda groovy" is a high compliment!

I did not feel like I had control of this one, but I appreciate the kind words!

Ha ha I have pretty bad tinnitus, and making this track did NOT help!
