My Sleep Paralysis Demon n' Me

By MRDRCAT on March 10, 2024 3:54 am

This week I wanted to do something upbeat and started down that road, but accidentally added a weird modulation to the Wavsynth patch I was going to use for a pad-ish sound and ended up with a gibbering demon. So I leaned into it.

Mix/master is a muddy meh because I have to get other stuff done.

I highly recommend not letting your demons ruin things when you're having a good time.

Oh my god that pad sound was great! Was NOT expecting the formant sounds, that demon was trying to say something 😂. With the bouncy fun melody and rhythm, I was getting these great anime images of the Magical Girl with the demon at the park or eating ice cream. Love the energy.

Lil’ Demon! He’s just misunderstood. Can I borrow him for my next track?

Ha ha thanks! I love the weird accidents the completely transform a project. And I would totally watch that anime.
You certainly can borrow him! I can send you the patch, and the M8 firmware is available for a "headless" version if you have a spare Teensy 4.1 lying around (and I'm just going to assume you do). Otherwise, I'm happy to sample some random modulation if you'd prefer. Or both. DM me on Facebook if you like!

Watch out! That demon is a Delay Lama in disguise! big_smile

How had I never heard of the Delay Lama? This is brilliant!

Demon-synth is my favourite kind of synth. 😈 Creates a nice contrast to the otherwise happy-upbeat soundscape

saw the title and was ready for grindcore, but the track was like

the intro to the sitcom of the same name????

love it! smile

It was too compelling not to include!

Ha! Sorry for the rug-pull. That's what happens when you want to do a happy track but someone else chooses the vocals smile

This has some very nice musical ideas…i really like the melodic mesh it creates. For some reason this reminds me of Yellow Magic Orchestra. It is a very good thing i can tell you smile

I dig it! I'm imagining a soundtrack to a Kirby level, but he's the demon. Fun ensues.

Oh wow, that is high praise! Thank you!

I didn't know I needed that game in my life. If Kirby was a villain...oof I don't even want to imagine!
