I Never Wanted This

By MRDRCAT on November 24, 2024 10:31 pm

Well this one started promisingly, and that's all the farther I got. Between wrecking my knee, finding out my work position is being eliminated next month, and failing to repair my partner's car transmission, my schedule has been pretty packed this week. Oh, and I have a cold. But I'll eventually land on my feet (once my knee heals and I get some PT in).

Percussion is all various gunshots I recorded at a local shooting range. I'm not a gun person, but they make noises I can use!

Oh no! I hope next week is better than this one for you.

Started promisingly, and kept going, I'd say...this is great. That gunshot kick sounds FANTASTIC, and that stutter you put on it is perfect....staccato and huge. Really cool how the rest of the perc all ended up pretty clicky, sitting on top of that boom of a kick...great contrast. Love the icy/gritty feel on this...so many synth textures, too. Samples just add to that icy/cool feel. More great rhythmic chopping on those as well. What are they from? They're really clean.

Yeah, really like this track...on my third listen. Another Favorite.

Aww thank you - hopefully after the rush of WB I can expand this one a bit because I like where it's headed. The voice is one of the non-AI text to speech models on ttsmp3.com (the same one I used for Recipe For Misanthropy and At First, Confusion) I just typed in a bunch of random maladies. I want to add a bunch more so I can get through the expanded version without many repeated words.

As for next week.....we'll find out! heart

Awesome! I haven't explored synthetic voices at all, I need to look into that.

Definitely, a lot of great stuff going in in this track...looking forward to hearing how you develop it.

I'm looking forward to post-WB. This year has been AMAZING and I've loved all of it, but slowing the pace a bit and doing more of a dive into gear and techniques is going to be a welcome change smile

Oh nooooooo, that sounds like a really sucky week, I'm so sorry to hear that =/
I was about to say that I hope you land on your feet, but then I remembered you're a cat and doing otherwise is just fundamentally impossible =P But srsly, wishing you a better week heart

I'm really liking the energy in this one. Feels mean, aggressive and just angry. I mean, it has bullets in it, I think that's as mean as it gets, hahahahaha... The robotic line read of the illnesses is super eerie, complements the track super well. Very nice!

Also, I've been noticing some similarities in sound design choices between you and SQF! Super cool to get familiarized with folks' sound and style enough to make these connections - I'm super thankful for WB for stuff like this.

Wow, knowing that those percussion sounds are gun shots really changes how I experience this one! It makes it feel even heavier and ominous. That said, I really love the energy here! Really nice instrumentation too with those synth layers winding around and through everything. Nice work!
