Cloudhopping

I wanted arps. And apparently I wanted to do it the hard way. Four of the eight tracks on the M8 were dedicated to the arp. I used a sample because it had the sound I wanted, so no polyphony for me. Lots of jumping around to make sure notes in different columns triggered correctly (usually on lunch at work, so much distractions). Then I wanted to mix up the arp pattern a few times. Then all the low-end mud happened between the drone and kick. And weird phase issues. And ugh. This is about as cleaned up as my skill level can get me, and I think it's listenable at least.

Still on a kick where I like upbeat things. I want to try something industrial, but I just have to get the happy stuff out of my system first.

Major beach house vibes! Looooove this, a favorite already for this week.

Could there be a more perfect title for this? I don't think so. You may want to make industrial, but these are some awesome happy little clouds. Great tune. smile

Love the weaving of arpeggios and rhythms, and the sound design elements in there - that slow EQ sweep on the first arp, that great grinding RRRrrrrnnnnk sound. Happy and bouncy and lots to hear, but not too busy.

Eeee thank you! Arps always give me beachy/summery vibes and I'm so glad I'm not the only one!

Thank you! With only half the normal tracks to work with I had to keep it simple, but there's so much going on already that limitation really helped.

Yeah, I struggle with sequencing melodies over multiple tracks on M8, too. I know you can go left and right if you set up the chains correctly but there's something about it that confuses me.

The end result you have here is therefore respectable. The arp sounds good! The track is a bit short but I don't blame you given the sequencing challenges 😆

I did try rendering the arps to a sample instrument, but they didn't loop smoothly. Given more time I probably could have figured out a way to get them down to 2 tracks. That's actually one of the things I like about the M8 is it's a music device and a logical puzzle all in one big_smile I tend to silo my instruments one-per-track, topping out at 8 instruments, but then I get to figure out where I can tuck something new that the track might need.

The track is kinda short, but honestly every time I listen to it I find it fatiguing - I'm not sure stretching it to four minutes would be kind smile

Wow this sounds sick! Favorited

Nice one, digging the happy vibes (but looking forward to industrial too.

Me too - I got a little closer in Week 7, but not quite.

Hey, I think I've heard this banger before! 😂
The arps going up  down throughout really get me going, I'm a sucker for that sound. As always, lovely work!!!

Ha ha possibly! I've dug arps since I heard The Neverending Story and Missing Persons' "If Only for the Moment" - some day I hope to achieve arpvana!
