nice hail Mary track

I love the mix on this.  Mixdown seems to be the hardest part for me.  This sounds amazing.

Thanks! I feel the same way... I used to always get this midrange-mud but it seems to be getting better with practice.  Some combination of eq and gating to try and thin out each part as much as possible to get it down to the bare minimum needed to do its job.  Sidechain kicks to compressor on the tracks with pads to duck them a bit.  Very last step is some multiband compression and eq on master to bring up mid-highs and highs.  It always sounds way too bright to listen to that way on the near-field monitors while writing but if I don't do it before I hit record then it later sounds like it is missing detail on pretty much every other speaker/headphone I try.

Thanks for the breakdown monty!
