I was trying to do two things this week:

1) learn logic pro
2) learn a little about uk garage. i love me some fred again tracks so i was inspired by him even though it doesn't show in the result.

I'm unhappy with the end result but happy with the learning. There's not enough variation in the elements themselves but it took most of what time i had noodling with learning logic and exploring sounds. Maybe this is ripe for a second attempt in the future.

Soundcloud link where I fixed an arrangement mistake and made it a tiny bit louder: soundcloud

You should be stoked with this, what a clean mix, it's got that cosy resonance bubble that I love in a lot of pop production. Almost feels like a lost Cassie track if she ever did UKG. Love it!

Sweet drum groove and slick glitchy synth fills.  Well done!

It's a very flattering rendition of me by my daughter (in the style of Basquiat)!

Nice percussions.

Logic Pro is such a beast... You'll have a lot to play with on the up coming weeks.

I understand what you say about being "repetitive", not having enough layers, but with the Vocals samples, it was interesting all track long anyways.

Fun one.

That’s for listening and feedback! Yeah I think I’ll make Logic my main and live with its quirks. Every daw has plenty of them. Excited for the journey.

I agree the vocal helps it a lot (makes it a solid 2.5 instead of a 1) but I’m so frustrated by me not moving fast enough to realize the intent.  The project has like 4 unused instruments that I was going to use for some small melodic parts and the Reese basses aren’t automated for the growls and the drums are the same 8 bars for 90% of the track and…

Sorry for punishing you for being nice by ranting about something only I care about and thank you again for the feedback

It is awesome that you care!

Sometimes on some of my work I am the same, sometimes it is the opposite and I should care more... wink

See you next week!

You did your thing on this. You have very creative use of the lyrics that really shines.

This is really good. Vocal samples are on point.

Thank you very much you wonderful people.

Excellent mood on this, and easily a good track as is. I think you need to give yourself some time, don't expect to be able to churn out production ready shit week by week. I can see how this seems like an attainable goal given how some people here on WB do just that, but understand that their workflow is already dialed in over years of experience and their life situation might allow them to spend way more time per week on their submission.

So, as much as I applaud a growth mindset and understanding your own limitations, I would advise against feelings of frustration. That can develop into avoidance, we don't want that! Agreed with you that this is a great base for future development.

Thank you for listening and the very constructive feedback. I've always been one to beat myself up over not meeting my own expectations so I'll keep doing that in my own head but I think perhaps I need to not be so negative outwards. I translate frustration into determination to do better so it's ok. I'm having an incredible time getting to dive into different genres and learning things and this community is nothing but great.

Also, I think with time passing, I can appreciate these attempts a bit more for what I achieved rather than everything I feel like I missed on.

Super appreciate you and the notes
