THE BIRTH OF A LICH

By MoGesus on March 4, 2026 11:34 pm

Wanted to try some new stuff by mixing Music2000 samples with some of the instruments I mostly use, and FM synth that I'm trying to learn to master. Enjoy.

Awww yeah, dungeon synth mood. Great tones!

aw yea embrace the FM engine

if you haven't already, experiment with only 2 operators (e.g. A>B>C>D with A/B volume set to 0).  try to fully explore what kinds of sounds you can make with just that.  try envelopes/LFOs modulating levels, independently for the two operators.  and if you're feeling spicy, modulate pitch/ratio.  but it gets out of hand quickly.

also spoiler: the instrument amp/limiter is in effect a _fifth_ operator, set to ratio zero.  especially apparent in SIN mode.

Oh, thank you for the advice, it will surely help!

Very cool sounds and a nice thick feeling. The slower pace and low drone give it a weight, and I really like that organ sounding part. The pad at 2:40 is fantastic.
