No Peace

long exhale....
OK! Cheerful! Continuing my quest to learn the Deluge, this week I:

  • tweaked the FM kick, snare, and hats that I made last week to be slightly more aggressive

  • learned I could sidechain the reverb! (see: snaaaaaare

  • made more FM sounds, tweaked more FM presets

  • recorded my voice into the Arranger, which I hadn't done before, to add the ghostly "ooh" in the intro and outro (it gets pitched down in the outro)

  • learned to use the new Automation View - wow wow wow. So useful, so well implemented.

I think that's it. I made the kick a bit too burly so it's super spiky. Did what I had time to do, and I learned a ton, so it's all good.

Love how the beat drops through the thick of it! Sounds like you're mastering the Deluge pretty well smile

The beginning is amazing, feels like I have bees in my head XD Then a lot of attitude after, I like it

Man that gated reverb you're getting on the snare with that sidechain is sick. Does the deluge have one reverb send? I'm wondering if I could do something similar on the m8.

A fellow Deluge user, hello! I was thinking about using Deluge for WB big_smile

That's a fun track and what a sick sounding sounds, great job!

Wow, thank you all so much! I was feeling kind of embarrassed by the kick, which coming after the intro (which I love!) sounds a bit... farty and underwhelming, lol.

Yes, there's just the one reverb, available as a send - but as you heard, it is subject to sidechain ducking. The most important setting was the Sync under Song > Settings > FX > Reverb > Reverb Sidechain > Sync on the sidechain. If I turned it off, the results were Meh. But setting it to 1/4 Note gives the result heard here, which is exactly what I wanted.

If I can keep learning just a couple things each week, it's really going to accumulate nicely!

Yeah, I'd *really* been wanting to get my hands back on it, and WB so far has been a really good way to ensure that.

powerful

Man, noise is doing overtime in this one! Very strong.
