Point And Laugh

By Modulated Drummer on May 3, 2020 11:18 pm

Modulated Drummer is all about Live Drums, Effect Pedals and Synths. My mission is to feature drum effects on live drums in an actual song or piece of improvised music.

I aim to experiment, inspire and innovate.

I plan to post weekly videos on YouTube and feature amazing drummer guests. If you love drums, effects and synths, or the content I create, please become a Patreon supporter TODAY.

Here is the process behind this weeks track.

Crazy because it doesn't seem to really give the feeling that it's a drum unless the timing is turned down to allow some space. This is a cool experiment, I've always been impressed with MXR products.

Crazy mad good sounds! Great beats and love that insane synth sounds. I'll be sure to check out the YouTube vid and series. Cool psychedelic sounds.

Again, super cool track. Kit sounds good, mix is super punchy, and those vocals with loads of fx are very fun too. I am more and more into adding a tape delay plugin on my snares, cranking the saturation, and sometime leaving a little of delay just to add "space", this is super cool. Keep it up man. I really like your synths as well. That is a very very nice setup that you have there.

Cool stuff.  Some of it kind of has like an old-school sci-fi vibe to it.  Or like a mad scientist's lab or something.    Fun track for sure.

I especially like around 4:44 when the delay sort of falls into triplets, and after that the layers get very interesting. I get a carnival of souls or scary clown vibe from the wobbly synth

Yo Jokinen. What's up dude!

I thought the same thing. I thought a double delay setup would be way more drastic and "stand outy". The feedback did something I didn't expect, and don't understand. When the pedal is self oscillating, ZERO delay gets added to the signal going in. And the drums basically become "dry". I have no idea why that is???

I appreciate it very mucho. If you have any pedal suggestions for future videos, lemme know. Can't wait to check out more of your tracks on here!

DJippy Happy Week 19.

Did you start on your track already? I haven't smile What tape delay plugin are you using on your snare? Drum effects are hecka fun! Adding that BeatstepPro to the mix has been super helpful and I'm excited to get better at it.

Yo Cosmic!

I was totally inspired by your vocal thing last week. Did you notice smile Me and my partner did monthly singing circles before the covid thing, so it was really cool to hear someone do a singing circle type thing on here. Definitely gonna try to flex that muscle going forward with weekly beats this year!

How is your week 19 going?

YO FetalFace smile

I originally thought there would be way more odd delay relations like that and was kinda surprise by the lack of that.

I didn't even realize that the synth has a carnival vibe till you mentioned it. What could it mean???

I did hear the vocal sounds but it didn't occur to me that I had provided any kind of inspiration.  Glad you put it to good use though!  I always like hearing tracks with vocals on here.  I don't do them every single week, but I try to have them a decent percentage of the time.

I worked on a bertrude drum track, not sure if I'll release that this week or start something else...

I was wrong, it is a tube delay that I use: https://www.softube.com/products/tube (licence did come with my Focusrite soundcard). Saturation is fun on this one.

I wonder what tube and tape delay combos would sound like?
