Where We Gonna Bounce?

By miraclemiles on June 19, 2016 8:45 pm

Built this from session with guitar player AM Faulks, Monstrosus, may partner in Creatures Once. Took some of the guitar from the session to build from, kept the original drums and bass I had played and added some more spice and arranged this week. Vocal samples are free and clear from the Rubber Tracks sample library, which is pretty awesome. Check it out here: https://www.conversesamplelibrary.com. Synts are some korg and prophet ableton sample pack instruments played on the Push. Title is from original title I gave this session (homey bounce), plus the sample ended up dropping in.

Fun...kay!  Digging the wah sweeps on guitar, vocal samples, overall halo of noisy chaos. That piercing keyboard sounds straight out of 70s Afrofunk, too.  Nice stuff.  If you wanted to tweak, I'd say maybe consider having the bass higher in the mix.  Overall, totally enjoyable funk surprise onslaught.

Definitely very bouncy and somehow disorienting in a good way.  It's like psychotic funk or something.  Cool!

Thanks so much for this comment. 70s afrofunk - love it! Agree on the bass in the mix. I think at one point I had that thought but probably spent time doing something else ... like making it weirder somehow smile. I keep telling myself I'm going to learn to cut things out and simplify, but I never do. My inner musical self must just really want the noisy chaos more and always wins. There's something satisfying about (trying to) tame the chaos beast sometimes.

Thanks! I know what you mean. May be too disorienting for some listeners I bet, but glad it was in a good way for you. Love the description "psychotic funk" I gotta borrow that wink

Just the right amount of disorienting!
