What The Fish Do

By miraclemiles on July 10, 2022 3:25 am

I got weird with the fish. What are they thinking as they swim in this fish tunnel? They know secrets. Do these fish have special mind-control powers, or are fish funnels just incredibly trippy.

Like last week, these sounds from a recent jam with License. He was on a modular setup playing with something called a Bongo module I think. I did drums and a synth riff from samples on the Circuit Rhythm. I keep picking bell samples, and won't stop. I did mouth sounds through the Organelle and Kaoss Pad. Not yet knowing I would meet the fish. But also definately knowing.

To make this edit of our jam I drank a cup of coffee and prayed to the editing inspiration deities of the Middle West.
But there's more. I ran my part and License's through Spleeter.io to extract stems and so I had some editing flexibility. Then chopped up drums and the synth thing that was on the drum track. Ended up just putting License track on two tracks, one with high end, one with low so I had editing flexibility. For the final segment, converted part of License modular track to midi with 606 sounds. Randomized each note to max random option in Live.
I recorded these fish friends video this week at the Milwaukee Discovery Center and Aquarium while visiting family in the great cheesy prairie dairy state of Wisconsin. I did indeed commune as best I could with these fishies in the fish tunnel. I learned about the Great Lakes, and water and other good sciency things. Tweaked the video as usual using Zwobot devices in Live.

Bong0 is good good.
Thanks! I'm finding that tracks I make from our jams are weird, and I like that!

Glad I can help in this important understanding. One day we may evolve gills and swim with the fish, so good to understand our friends. Thanks for listening smile smile smile

Fishology is pretty amazing! I'm just a visitor in all things though. I'll never truly understand. Thanks for checking it out!

Oh yeah, they're great! Magical places. Thanks, glad you liked drums, and the vox. I almost cut some vox, but they seemed fishy enough to keep.

this was a fun collaboration!

Excellent bites of percussion throughout.  The watery gurgly hits especially sound nice.  Down in Miami we will have to learn to swim with da feeshes first yikes
