Verdant Murk

By miraclemiles on October 2, 2022 11:51 pm

Like last weeks, made this from sounds from a quick improvised session. This time on the model cycles and playing the e-drums live with 808 sounds. Decided to only use these sounds from this session as a creative constraint. Caught some cold or flu bug this week, so my I'm in a murky plodding kind of head space as I edit this today. Found these videos I recorded riding bike on Governors Island in Madison Wisconsin this summer. I remember the humidity and denseness  of those woods, and that also fits my head space so played with that. FX from Zwobot. Hopefully I'll catch up listening and commenting this week, I'm behind, and I need to hear your tunes!!

I like the sound of rain at the start of the track and as it comes back midpoint. The bass riff from 0:29 is really cool, groovy, weird in a good way. It morphs and breathes. And all in the service of a nice drums festival.

Thank you! Added the rain at the very end of making this, thought it needed that smile. That bass riff was what I used to start this, the inspiration, dig it, and I can't escape a little drum fun each week!

this is monstergroovy. I love the dense energy you created and the little percussive sounds with delay on top.

I like the sounds of "monstergroovy", that's the groovy I will aim for! Had fun with the model cycles delay on those sounds. Thanks for listening!

Some really tasty tones on this one, there is a pleasant murky/foggy feel to it, cold/flu/Covid? Bug seems to be everywhere right now, hope you are feeling better soon

Thanks! The model cycles chord instrument layers things up well into some murk. i have just a cold, or maybe the flu actually, negative home covid test at least. Still lingering but I'm functional again after a down and out weekend. Cheers, gonna go hear your latest, need to catch up!

The use of rain was a nice touch with the varied percussion.  It gave me some chill rain forest vibes smile

Concept for week 40: You, Q-Rosh, and CosmicCairns join forces to form a found-sounds-from-nature superband.

I got a cold this week, too, so I'm totally in the murky headspace.  Cool stuff.

This sounds like a fun idea.

The rain really adds to this one. Get well soon!

Thank you! Glad you got that vibe for sure. I'm liking adding some nature ambience a lot these days.
