Space In Between

Excited to back on the Weekly Beat action! This song started as a jam a few months back with myself doing beats and things on the Push and long-time collaborator Aaron Faulks on electric guitar. For this Weekly Beat version I created a new bass line than I had in the original jam, and found and edited some guitar parts to use. The biggest change, and a new leap for me, is adding vocals. I want to start having vocals in productions more often, and in absence of vocal collaborators to work with, I'll go ahead and give it a go. I don't have any real singing skills, but I figure I can give it a go anyway. I think it's important to just let go of all the fear and naysaying thoughts and just try stuff out ... every darn week. Still working out the process and how I'll do vocals, but this week I listened to the rough track, wrote down a few words then recorded those words and made up more on the fly while recording one take. Resisted the urge to record more and instead played around with vocoder effects, and having fun with adding arpeggiator to vocoder carrier to get the fun glitchy sounds heard in here. Then did some editing to chop the vocal take, add the glitchy parts and what not. Looking forward to more weeks of fun, hoping I can keep up smile !

YESSSSSS

How did you get that "rapid rain droplet" effect?  Is that a guitar or keyboard?

Great track, I love the vocals, the clap, and especially those crazy glitch sounds.  You gotta share your glitch secret with me smile

Good shit man. Dig the vox a lot as always. Faulks' plucks are always top notch too.

Hey welcome back!  Very cool track.  Vocals sound great.  Definitely don't be held back by any sort of limitations you may or may not have.  Just go for it!  And yeah, the glitch is awesome.

Thanks!
I think that rain droplet sound is that high pitch synth track where I converted guitar audio to Midi notes. Or maybe the pitched cowbell that's peppered in there, not sure which you're referring to wink.

Yeah the vocal glitch. Used Ableton's vocoder on a track, put my vocal take on there, then set the vocoder to be modulated by a carrier midi track where I had an arpegiator on it and I had a few midi notes repeating and just kept tweaking the arp to get more glitch ... happy accidents, something I want to play with more!

It's good to be back, but a little daunting - so many weeks of tunes!!.
My sensitive inner vocalizer childs needs praise and encouragement, so thanks, I gotta do more now!

Fun piece, and thanks for the vocoder tip!

The voice is cool and the instruments are unusual in a good way. Bassline goodness also. Fav!

Oh sorry,
somehow i missed your track the last week.
Good to see you again!

This track has a cool mood... I think the not too perfekt vocals are mostly replonsible. I really like the slight distorion and that you don't used too much chorus, wich would be the obvious for this kind of vocals!

nice effects!
