This one was built from my daughter's piano playing. She's just getting to point where she's making up some of her own chord progressions. She still doesn't know where to go next with them to make a song. I'm not really sure what to tell her other than "keep playing, keep trying, there are no rules." I can show her what I would do with those sounds though, even though it's a much different weirder thing than she probably hears in her head. So I took a recording of her playing those chords she likes, and some arpeggios, chopped them up on the Push, then tinkered around and rolled with the first ideas that came to mind, and layered in the rest of the sounds. Was a quick flowing process, kind of taking the first things that came out.  Not a big epic song that she deserves, but it's an example you can take a few notes and turn it into something. Did some weird vocal sounds through the Organelle which was fun. Improvised some lyrics like "Fly high, but don't fly away." In hindsight maybe those meant something. We want the kiddos to fly high, but not fly out of our lives completely. They will leave the nest someday though, to go our and make their own songs.

That's a cool back story to the song and the piano parts sound good!  But yeah, keep playing and keep trying is the best advice.  Nobody is generally writing masterpieces on their early attempts, but you don't reach higher levels without starting out with those early attempts.  And it takes trying things out to figure out what works.  Heck, that's still an ongoing process for me. smile

Such a cool idea for a song experiment. Love the result, too; fun, flowy, and lots of interesting sounds for the ears.

so sweet. happy music.

that's really a cool idea to sample her playing.

that lyric and the thought behind it made me :'(

that's really sweet.

I love the backstory and it's great that you collaborated with your daughter to help her see what can be done, then she can take it on her own. Showing her how to fly.
I like the mix of sounds on this one, it's a quirky track in a good way.

Aww man that sounds like a fun time.  That's always been a dream of mine but alas it's just me and my cat lol.  The opening piano line is really catchy.  With the beat and reverbed chords it has a fun playful feel to it.  Really cool idea!
