Rise

By miraclemiles on August 23, 2020 11:56 pm

Kind of a celebration that we can do the work and make things better. Together, we can rise to greater places. I like to remember it's a choice sometimes. Every minute. To be hopeful or fearful. To give up or to keep doing the work that's in front of us. Hard choices, but choices that can be made. Also a celebration of flutes. Flutes like this seem celebratory to me. I like to have a little "let's get up and do this" flavor but also some "let's also party" reminders. I started out with an older song I wanted to play around with. A lot of the drum samples were missing. Ended up making a whole new thing. Just did the vocals off the cuff. Flutes and some of the percussion from Behr's free santuri safari sample instrument pack. Female voice is chops of my wife chanting asatoma sadgamaya ... kind of translates into "lead me from darkness to light", goes along with the feeling I had of getting to a better place.

Wow, really needed to read/hear this.  I need to remind myself that I can choose to be hopeful and positive.  Thank you.

I agree, it's hard not to think of a flute as "light"

Vocal chops of the spouse are cool!

I like your kinda MC vocals on this

Definitely a good message and something we can all stand to keep in mind.  Great use of flutes.  The vocals of your wife work really well, too.  Feeling the positive energy on this one.

This is awesome, flutes sound great, good use of the vocals and love the simplicity and positivity of “come on! We will rise”

I like the tribal feeling the percussion and flute evoke.  Well said in choosing to be hopeful and positive.  I'm guilty of forgetting that all too often.

The word "celebration" you used is the best description of this track. There is a festive aspect to this track without turning into cheesy territory. The tribal percussion sounds very good and the flutes contribute a lot to the atmosphere. This is very well done.

Awesome, thanks for this comment. Glad to provide a reminder to be hopeful. I needed to remind myself too! I do love me some flutes, gotta admit. "Kinda MC" is about right too, lol.

Nice, thanks! Yes indeed, we can all stand a little bit of positivity I think. I gotta get her to do some more vox, she's shy.

Thanks! Good to hear you like those flutes. Simple little lyrical messages about all I usually manage, always nice when the simplicity works out ok.

I've been wanting a kind of tribal vibe more and more this year. Glad you like, thanks! Cheers to remembering to have a little hope and positivity too!

Right on, yeah "celebration" really came to mind for me on this, glad that came through for you! I really appreciate hearing it didn't sound cheesy too. I worry about getting too cheesy sometimes. Thanks much, appreciate the comment!

That flute and those drums makes it feel like a tribal celebration dance. Cool.
