Regression Tunnels

By miraclemiles on June 26, 2022 11:26 pm

Began this by wanting to kick back and relax. So brought the Circuit's Tracks and Rhythm to the sofa for a little jam. Created a few patterns, and achieved relaxation. Later, recorded them into Ableton and played with FX as I recorded, which is fun. Then jammed on the Circuit Monostation, recorded, and had a lot of fun twisting knobs. Added some vocoded vocals through the Kaoss pad. Went on a bike ride this weekend on a paved trail. I thought it was a magical kind of afternoon, so pulled out the phone and recorded as I flowed along. Did some light FX on it in Zwobot in Ableton, but didn't go crazy on those for once. I wanted to do something weird with the tunnel part. Make it backwards maybe, since sometimes it feels like the US is moving backwards. Regressing into tunnels of unknown darkness. I like to stay positive though. Let's make music, talk about things. Build communities strong and ride our bikes together.

the placement of sounds, some up close and others a bit further off in the distance adds such a lovely ornamented feel to the overall space... also dig how the words(with a heavy breath in between every now and then) have this catchy rhythm that leads everything out so perfectly.

a nice ride through your country, thanks. Love the background story, in which you mentioned the relaxed workflow you are practicing, the experimental sources you take for your tracks and the easyness you offer in your music. Stay the way you are.

nice sounds

i agree a weeklybeats_gang_bike_ride would be awesome right about now.  I especially the section around 1:30.  That dark synth sounds great.  Well done!

Thank you! That sense of placement, close and far is so awesome when it works. It was mostly by accident here, happy accident, but something to ponder on how to do more of! Yah I find when I do vox sounds it's always kind of a rhythm thing, glad it worked out for you. I think you commented before I added this video, not there's some visual space movement happening too!

oh nice! just checked it out, love those zwobot tweaks, and what a beautiful day and ride, works really well! big_smile

Wow, love the turn the track takes around 1:30. Great eclectic collection of sounds and rhythms. The chanting effected vocals are very cool!

A lot of fun sounds here and the visuals add a nice touch.  They're a little trippy but also convey that feeling of freedom and joy that come with being outside on a beautiful day.

Thank you! Kind of an abrupt turn there! I think that part is my fave, but had to keep that intro too. Glad you liked the vox, I liked doing them.

Hey thanks. That feeling of freedom was what I was feeling, and maybe didn't consciously try and capture, but glad if that came through at all. I sometimes go full on trippy on vids, took restraint to just be a little trippy

Love that tasty punchy bass tone that pops in.  Lots of great squelchy filters. Cool shift at the midpoint. Gets really full and the vocoder lines add a hypnotic rhythm to the track. Like robots on funk!

Hey thanks! Robots on funk sounds like a good band or song name, cheers!
