Pause >> Reflect

I wanted to make something calmer and peaceful this week. Playing the tongue drum has always been a reflective meditative experience for me. It's been a while since I recorded the tongue drum (D minor "celtic" scale), so I recorded about 30 minutes with that. I learned I like to play a riff for about 4 bars then move on. Also playing with metronome helps. Also trying to breath deeply while playing is interesting experience. The chaos of the world has weight. Then there's the lower rumble chaos of life that appears to have weight sometimes. But as I played, paused and reflected I just felt so grateful this week to have a healthy, safe family and a stable life. Grateful to be able to create, share and hear others music.
After recording, I picked a few parts that captured my attention, layered two or three - a tongue drum ensemble. Converted some of the tongue recordings to bass, added chords on suitcase piano instrument. I learned what an ostinato is this week, so was thinking about that, with the repeating tongue drum and moving chords ...  but not sure I really did that. To finish off, some light percussion. some light synths, and choir pad sounds.

This was really soothing and honestly quite pretty.  It really is a blessing to be able to create and share with others and be inspired in return.  It's good to remember that sometimes.

calming tunes are very OK for me this week too. This track is very nice and beautiful.

Beautiful work, the tongue drum is kinda the perfect percussion for this, such a perfect lead, and sends the air of the surrounding textures far, far out. Great work.

That is nice. The tongue drum is colorful, smooth and warm, like a summer morning. There are also some other layers on top of it, maybe the light percussion you are referring to, which add a different texture. What a nicely soothing track.

Thank you! Such a cool observation about the tongue drum sending the other textures far out. I hadn't planned that consciously, but glad it worked.

Hey thanks, so happy if this felt soothing at all. Ah yes a smooth warm summer morning sounds wonderful right now, looking forward to those! Thanks for that lovely image. Its been fun to play this tongue drum, with 9 notes, have some limitations, but the right sequence of those notes can create some different moods.

wow - this is just beautiful - so so lovely
that drum has a gorgeous tone!

thank you for the reminder to breathe - took some nice breaths while listening

I'm vibing to this.

Cool sound, I was not at all familiar with the tongue drum. Very uplifting sound with the filtered wulitzer style keys and backing pads.

"The chaos of the world has weight." Lovely way to put it. This track is so dreamy. I really liked floating away with it.

Really cool how the tongue drum melody is meditative and a bit hypnotizing all at once.

Right on thanks. I like uplifting descriptor smile.  Glad the keys and pads sounded ok, hard to choose sounds there, but had to go with something!

Hey thanks, I was really going for both those things. I've been wanting to make music to chill and get into a peaceful meditiative state with, I find it kind of hard, because I also really wanna add a lot of stuff and lots of beats. You're a real inspiration in this realm for sure!

Thanks for this, so enjoyable, agree with everything you said, life is in a good place, let’s enjoy and not forget that.
