Pause >> Reflect

I wanted to make something calmer and peaceful this week. Playing the tongue drum has always been a reflective meditative experience for me. It's been a while since I recorded the tongue drum (D minor "celtic" scale), so I recorded about 30 minutes with that. I learned I like to play a riff for about 4 bars then move on. Also playing with metronome helps. Also trying to breath deeply while playing is interesting experience. The chaos of the world has weight. Then there's the lower rumble chaos of life that appears to have weight sometimes. But as I played, paused and reflected I just felt so grateful this week to have a healthy, safe family and a stable life. Grateful to be able to create, share and hear others music.
After recording, I picked a few parts that captured my attention, layered two or three - a tongue drum ensemble. Converted some of the tongue recordings to bass, added chords on suitcase piano instrument. I learned what an ostinato is this week, so was thinking about that, with the repeating tongue drum and moving chords ... but not sure I really did that. To finish off, some light percussion. some light synths, and choir pad sounds.
