No Coast Toast

By miraclemiles on August 9, 2020 11:33 pm

Raise a toast from cost to coast ... wait ... no no. Raise a toast to NO coast. Does that mean shouts to all my inland people? Maybe, sure, but this title's for the sounds from the 0-coast synth. Almost all sounds in here are from fellow WBer License's track from week 29 using that synth. Some backstory, License and I live in the same city and we've been trying to do a collaborative project we can release some tracks and perform live someday. Remember live performances? Those were sure swell. Maybe we'll have to settle for some video recordings though. Anyway, we thought we'd trade stems from each other songs and see if we can make something happen. We're somewhat different, but we agreed we want to make some stuff people can shake the booties to if they want, and let flavor of funk be a guiding light. Follow the light of the funk. This track may fit that realm, it's possible. I just took some of his recordings, and started slicing, resampling and having some general fun, because fun must be had. Then did some little toasting vocals off top of the head, a little djembe and let's call it a week.

A toast to all of you our there still in this every week!!

I vaguely remember something about live performances... that was a thing people used to do in the olden times, yes?  Well at any rate you have succeeded in making some booty shaking music, although there's more going on than in a lot of dance music I hear.  Always lots of interesting complex stuff going on.  The vocals work really well, too.

This sounds awesome groovy and funky indeed. The rhythm is, aham, let`s say ill, in a very postive way and works very fine. I wish I could see this performance live, with you on the mic. This track could be on a beasty-boys LP, if they would still exist and perform. yeah, fun I had too.

Nice hip hop feel. Like that blown out overdrive vocal! Love the massive hits towards the end. Live performances would cool but video would be much appreciated for those of us in other locations.

I'm always shocked when WBers are in the same town or know each other.  That's so cool that you know License.  Full disclosure, zirafa and I are old-school homies and used to live in the same town, now we are an hour and a half apart.  Zirafa is also a super 0-coast user!!

oh MAN that super white noise squelch at 2:26 gave me life!  I might have to illegally sample it!

U nailed it!  Even down to the congas by Mario Caldato Jr.

I agree it has the groove of a track on a BBoys record or even some of that Parliament Funkadelic feel.  The effects on the vocals are a nice touch too.  Well if you can't perform yet you could always work on some cool looking masks smile

Dude I LOVE what you did with these samples. I was looking for the funk in that little riff - I knew it was in there - and hot damn, you found it. Your bars are great too and I love the blown-out Daft Punk ending.
