Kids Want Birds

A melody from one of my songs from earlier this year, Three Eyed Rainbow, popped into my head. So I started with that and built from there, the usual experimenting and messing about, then the fun that is arranging. The may keys are an Ableton Operator preset called Blurry Wurli, tweaked a little. A also recorded the Midi to Audio, sliced and played some new parts on the Push from the slices of that main chords/melody. The drums are all played on Push with various Live kits. did some note repeat jamming (some random throwing the fingers down which is always fun) and messing around with and without quantization. I built some new chords under the original melody, and I don't know much theory so maybe they don't make sense, but I liked the sounds of things, so here it is!

Happy indeed! This makes me smile... heart

Pretty bird.... prettyy birrrrd... Yeah cool! Creative and kooky, my fave combo smile

Digging that smooth synth sound.  The bass gets into a nice groove also.

I remember Blurri Wurli: fun guy! Good to hear that he hasn't lost that mellow (almost Caribbean) edge.

Very nice fun track, like the bass that comes in midway and all the playful melodies, forget theory, if it sounds good it sounds good.

I could fill a book with the music theory I know... If it was a match book and I was writing with a big sharpie that is. Great flow, your track is alive and makes me happy, inviting rhythms and warm feelings!

Started out a little chaotic and then settled into an awesome groove. This is like a playground of drum and bass sounds. Third movement is my fav before reprising the main groove. Great work!

Still as funky as the first time.

Music theory isn't the big answer to everything, it's more the big question.

Making the smiles is the best, nice to hear that, thanks!

Ha, exactly. We have parakeets. I call them pretty birds or just Pribs. Creative and kooky my fave too, thanks much!

Smooth like a pretty bird. Thanks much, nice you mentioned the bass. Part of it was sampled from live bass player friend of mine.

Ha! He sure hasn't. He's fun. Keeps things casual and light. Permanent island vacation kind of fellow. Lots of floral shirts.

Thanks much! Agreed, go by ear and call it good.

Hahaha - yeah, my kind of book wink. Appreciate the words, alive and happy with warm feelings is great compliment ... gives me warm feelings as to hear that.

Thank you! Yeah, I may smooth out the chaos a little. Glad you liked the "bridge" part, I like putting the weird, different stuff in.

As first time of what? Theory as the big question. That's a good deep statement, I like that. Thanks much!

The first time you used that melody. I thought it sounded familiar.

Yes! Cool you remembered, thanks.

Those guys are swell. We have 3 parakeets in our house. They are fun. Bit of a love triangle now, I feel a bit sorry for the one who seems to be left out. Maybe I'm projecting humaness too much though, lol.
