Hurry Up Hold Strong

By miraclemiles on March 8, 2020 10:51 pm

Back from a little southern California vacation, and back in some funky disco house land. Limited time this week due to that vacation, so I pulled up a live session with collaborator AM Faulks aka Monstrosus and did an edit and arrangement. He played some bass and guitar, maybe some keys, I put in the rest. Chopped up and resampled his guitar, and bass in the middle section, but kept his bass as recorded everywhere else. Used the female vocal sample that's peppered throughout as the open hi-hat sound as well, which was fun. Recorded some vocoded vocals. Not sure what I was saying, even though I did it last night. Listened back to it today and thought I heard "hurry up hold strong" in there. But also maybe something about 40, party strong ... hmm. The vocals I recorded during the live session talked about "pizza with Jenny" but this didn't really end up a pizza song I don't think. Unless its pizza after the club. That sounds fun.

Right on! This comment made my Wednesday afternoon! Glad I kept those syndrums in there - thought hey maybe cheezy but I like. Thanks very much!

I don't think I've ever heard something quite like this before. The instrumentation seems to come from a load of different scenes but it all blends together into this mystery vibe. The vocals are a lovely touch.

This is the kind of music I wish they played in dance clubs.  The female vocals work well.  Hold strong also sounds like good advice.  I'm not loving these election results too much either.

That's awesome, mystery vibe, I love that. Thanks! I often seem to throw stuff together and kind of get lucky. Probably because I don't really know all that much and I'm easy to please.

I would definitely go out more if dance clubs played this!

Pizza is God's favourite food... how do I know that? because PIZZA! Great track, fun times!

Oooh that's a funky bassline!  With all the different elements going it has a dj mix feel to it.  Nice work!

Thanks very much. I love that he did a little slap bass here. I don't care what anyone says, love me some funky slap bass! I like that DJ mix feel for sure, maybe thats why I pack so many elements in, a dj mix in my head all the time lol.

Very nice. I like the PEW PEW drums and in the middle where it gets all spacey and repetitive.

Nice! Yeah those drums are fun, I like that middle section too. Dig it, thanks!
