Green Plain

By miraclemiles on June 14, 2020 11:38 pm

Last minute production today. I sat down thinking I'd make something out of a recording session with guitar player AM Faulks. It was a late night session. A few beverages were enjoyed as we ended the night with a rollicking 12/8 drinking song.

I smiled when I listened and remembered that session. Then I felt completely unmotivated to finish that song as it was. Not my mood today. I had a session full of sound, so I tried to chase down something else. I started combining and playing around with what we made, and added some more to it as I went. Now its a new thing. I almost caught it. There's an echo of the rollicking night. We almost forgot the accordian player came too, there's an echo of her in our minds. But its dawn now and time to move on. There's green plains beyond. Time to walk home and tell one more story on the way.

There definitely is a bit of a drunken quality to the proceedings.  The first section I would almost describe as drunk ambient but then it got a little more distorted and aggressive... like a bar fight broke out at a meditation center or something.  Lots of cool rhythms and textures to dig through!  It was a fun listen.

The proceedings proceeded in drunken fashion! Drunk ambient sounds like good new genre, you're great at coming up with those! And then yes, the good old bar fight at the meditation center. I mean, we've all been there, am-i-right?! One can only chill peacefully for just so long. Love it, cheers, glad was fun listen for ya, fun to make!

Feeling the drums on this one, got a nice punch to them, sounds like a fun night!

I like the kind of deconstructed digital dub bits in the intro and outro... that idea could be expanded out into a tune in and of itself.

Fun 3-over-2 groove. The sawtooth synth line in there is especially tasty - crisp and thick.

the pan flutey things are strangely so good with the distortion elements

great grit/clear contrast

so much random awesome sounds A+

fits perfectly on my flight to jamaica right now...good dope, man.

Thats a cool backstory.  A nice variety of sounds melting in and out around the distorted drums.  I didn't realize that was the accordion at first.  Def had a nice groove to it altogether.

Love all the chaos in the collage of electronic sounds. Very inventive and rhythmic.

Oooh, yeah, good idea, may have to use those sounds again. I liked doing that deconstruction, playing with arps I think, may have to do more of that.

Thanks, appreciate hearing that! Funny when pan flute can go with gritty stuff ... or maybe pan flute things just go well with everything. I love me some flutey sounds that's for sure smile

haha, that's awesome!! Perfect compliment, any music that works on flight to jamaica sounds good. Hope Jamaica was fun!

Thanks much, glad you liked the groove, I think I'll do more 12/8 soon.
