Friday Good Good Jam

By miraclemiles on April 17, 2022 11:28 pm

My job gave us Friday off, because they want us to think they are a good employer I think. So I did a little jam on my hardware stuff. Been bobbing my head to this all weekend. Bass from circuit monostation, synths circuit tracks, percussions circuit rhythm (I sure love that circuit family, very jammable). Mouth sounds through Kaoss pad. Synth that sounds like mouth sounds from a synth patch on organelle. Made it sound talky by turning that one knob, while also turning that other knob, happy accident as usual (freq and filter res I think). That part of the jam was exciting: I say to my dog (the only family member who seemed imterested) "it sounds like a voice! I have birthed a synth baby!" Hopped on the e-drum kit and played for a while just to remind my arms they can move around and hit things. Used those drums recording in the middle section, and chopped it up for little textures throughout. Recorded all this into Ableton for some more chippity chops, sausage fattening, drum bussifying and what nots. Have been experimenting with Bandlab free Ai mastering, so put this through there on one of their four settings, "clarity", seemed to make it sound better than I had it sounding so there we go.
This experience reminded me that creating music is a bit of self therapy, a bit of a mindfulness practice that's all the rage these days. Got to escape, create, forget about the yuck yuck and boo blah out there. Hope all of you are doing well, and creating this weeks song also brought you something positive!!

a kind of beasty boys baby song you gave a birth. That is what comes to my mind. cool rhythms and a great track from start to the end.

Some good funk and crazy textures.  Whatever reason your job had, it's always nice to get a day off.  Especially when you can use that time to make some cool music.

I really liked that groove at 1:14 it contrasts the glitchy complex rhythm stuff nicely. That was a fun one. Lots of interesting sounds coming in and out of focus!

Loads of cool stuff going on here. Shake shake... Fun groove and really like those chopped percussions. Here in Canada we do have either Good Friday or Easter Monday off, Christians "built" our country so... All good I suppose?

So much to uncover on this one, love that!  Drums and the talking synth voice are dope, wasn’t Friday a holiday for everyone?  So generous of your employer

I like the sounds you have there! The liquid synth in the high frequencies, the whisper like sample that has a percussive nature and then indeed the baby like voice. That's a fun one!
I totally agree with the therapeutic nature of music. For me the whole point is the creation process, and basically letting the unconscious do whatever it wants to do, give it that place to channel its energy. Having a music track is just really a byproduct of the process.

Love the crunchiness of the drums especially in the kick.  Excellent jam with all the fills.  The intro sorta reminded me of the Reading Rainbow intro smile

Damn your drumming sounds awesome in the track. Great beats and variety.  I get an experimental Peter Gabriel vibe at times. I like how you keep changing it up through out the track. That little Kaoss pad does sound like it's trying to talk!

great title. I am always a fan of using the same word multiple times in a title, especially when the word is "good". I like the sensation of things coming into focus as this progresses. cute and sparkly. the kind of weightless, petri dish mixing and placement reminds me a lot of late 90s/early 00s md like appelsap. very sunny, resolute, determined. I definitely hear Friday opportunity in this.

All about the good good, glad you agree. The cute sparkles like to come out sometimes. Ah, those are all names I don't think I know, which is fun, stuff to explore. Thanks for the comment and listen!
