Can You Dig This

By miraclemiles on March 29, 2020 10:26 pm

Apparently when messing around with vocals, I like to say "can you dig this." I did that in a session with License a while back, and said it again this week when doing vocals through the Organelle. Probably because we had a laugh about it recently. This one started with bass line recorded from live session with bassist friend Ethan. Started adding drums, various feels, various kits. It was kind of mellow, then bam, make some coffee ...  this just had to go into drum and bass territory. Not a territory I usually go, but when its gotta go that way, you can't resist. When playing drums in live bands I used to take the mellower beat, single or half time style. Then collaborators would sometimes say - double that up, go faster! They were preparing me to listen for the sweet siren drum and bass call. Synths are the novation circuit monostation, organelle (mostly for my voice and weird sounds), and Dave Smith Pro 2 samples Brian Funk released as Ableton pack. Main drums from the 808 Aristocrat in ableton, with some other percussion and kits in their as well. Can't wait to send this to bassist Ethan to see if he's surprised and digs this. Hope you all dig this too, looking forward to catching up and digging your music this week too.

or alternately

Yeah I can dig it.  That must have been some coffee to bring about such monster drum and bass.  smile

This track has a driving bassline and rhythmsection. well done.

Killer percussion and bass. I would have thought the vocals were from classic samples, lol. Got to go where the drum and bass take you. I dig it!

I can dig this! Very good drums and basses!

I love the reverse bits 1/3 of the way in. Also the timbale roll 2/3 of the way and the weird flangey breathy stuff. In general the atmospheric stuff is really nice on this, I love the mixing.

Diggin' it big time! I feel like this is a song that would be perfect to listen to while playing Wipeout big_smile
