All Of This Has Happened Before ...

My first, (and maybe last) attempt at a drum and bass track, if it's fair to call it that smile.  A lot of these sounds came from the same live session with License that inspired last weeks track too. He played this awesome bassline on the Mircrobrute and added some elements to the main beat, which is an Ableton kit called Chromatone made from some good samples. The beat that starts in the intro and continues underneath the main beat was played by LIcense on the Pocket Operator PO-12. I also sliced this PO12 beat on the Push and tapped our more drums. More drums!! The synth sounds I played on the Novation Circuit during the jam along with the PO12 beat. We thought the PO12 / circuit jam would be different song from the Brute / DnB song, but I merged them into this one monster. This morning I grabbed a Peter Pan record with this vocal sample and did my best at scratching ... I'm not great, and rusty at that, but I now have turntable and mixer next to my editing desk so I can go crazy and practice more often. I was excited to hear the sample when I pulled out this record, it's a great line I've heard in various shows, that to me alludes to alternat dimensions and time travel ... or maybe I've been consuming too much sci-fi.

The record scratching sounds pretty cool to me.  Definitely a kick-ass bass line.  And the sample is nice.  Definitely brings to mind other bigger things.

The scratching def adds a cool element to the track as the bass carries the rhythm along.  Nice work bringing all those drums together! smile

Wow. Everyone seems to have upped their game this week. Nice scratching and fantastic bassline!

No such thing as too much sci-fi. ::)

I hope it will happen again wink

Nice One!

Thanks! As a drummer I love being able to add some layers, hear things I couldn't play alone. Scratching is sure fun too.

Thanks!, yeah it was a great week of beats all around! Agreed, probably can't have too much sci-fi in life, gives a needed perspective
