Ultimate Encounter

By mint pixel on January 29, 2016 5:28 am

OKAY, finally got enough time in one week to write a real track. This week, I pulled apart a bunch of video game boss music that I liked and tried to figure out how it's put together. So, here's the final boss theme for my fictional ARPG!

Constructive criticism is, as always, greatly appreciated.

Big fan of bells. Very SNES of you......;)

Oh yes! This drew me in from the other room to see what was going on. Intense!

Wow, "Boss theme" the same week for you and I, I hope you'll get the chance to check mine.
Constructive criticism it is then. wink
In the first part, I think your mix could be improved, maybe sidechain comp and more EQing, regarding the percussion part.
Second part, I like it but your drums are a little weak, especially that snare. If that was your intention, I got it but still, I'd like it more punchy. Synths are a little bit up front to me (headphones though).
Yeah, in the final part, I find those synths a little bit too loud (it's just a matter of maybe 2 dB). I'll have to check that at daytime on speakers.
Great submission, thanks for the moment!

obviously organs are necessary for any ultimate boss battle. nice job!

very 90s Uematsu instrumentation for a lot of this. The pulse/square lead sections feel much more contemporary, but I can't quite put my finger on what I'm thinking of specifically, agh! I hope the future holds more RPG and/or battle music

this is amazing, love the drum parts and mix, and it sounds somewhere betweeen video game and real music

fun piece to listen to. I will have to look at Goldrunner for some inspiration

More of a mid-boss, the piano is underwhelming.

I think it sounds quite right. Don't really agree with some "punchyness" comments because I think chiptunes are a lot more about melody than overall "hype sound". It's ok if you want to give it more presence like your previous "wrong foot" song, but it could also work without turning it to EDM IMHO.

My two cents smile
