Punch Fight IV: Theme for Night Vision

By mint pixel on July 30, 2014 2:02 am

Aaaaaand with this my month of hell comes to a close. This is the (deliberately crappy) theme song for the game I've been working on, Punch Fight IV: Night Vision. I tried to evoke a "we asked our friend with GarageBand to make us a theme song" feel, and I think it worked.

Not so crappy at all but... Why are you intentionally looking for that amateurish feel, if I may ask?

Is your logo a take on the adobe icons or have I been using photoshop too long?

nice lo-fi sound! almost like in an amiga game. I have a colleague who also produces low-end tracks on purpose. he keeps a Yamaha MU128 and a couple of sound font libraries of old expanders in his studio.

So the game that I was working on over July is about a couple of dudes filming an urban exploration show for a public access channel. They don't really know what they're doing, and don't have a lot of skill, but they make up for it with heart! I wanted to try to capture that feel in the theme song, so I wrote something using a lot of stock Apple Loops and preset instruments.

Haha, you've been using Photoshop way too long, I just wanted an icon that was mint green, a square, and pixel-y. There could have been some unintentional inspiration, though.
