thank you! smile drums are a sliced up old breakbeat (not sure what song it's from but the file is called bestend.wav, has lots of snare drag) -> lowpass filter -> tape saturation -> eq -> parallel compression (audiodamage roughrider 2)

Gorgeous wistful atmosphere there. Sounds like Hood from 25 years back, you just need to add glitchy vocoded vocals. I listened to that kind of thing a whole lot back then.
