i wrote a couple songs and now i'm at a loss for words
i don't have the force of will cause forcing anything just hurts
i second guess my every thought before it leaves my mouth
every whimper that you hear from me was once a mighty shout

cause if i open up my mouth then i am open to derision
so i feign a meek persona to avoid all criticism
this weak facade of irony is just another wall
is it any wonder that i'd rather say nothing at all

and in the time it takes from pen to page
my ideas become a shadow of themselves
and in the time it takes from pen to page
the words just make me sick of myself
