I know what I am
I’m not afraid to say
I follow him who gave his life
To ransom captive slaves
Sin had me in chains
To lead me where it would
He set me free
Like only Jesus could
I know what I was
I live, but I was dead
And hell was like a cloud of darkness
Hung above my head
I tried to shake it off
But nothing made it good
He tore it down
Like only Jesus could
I know what I’ve done
I’ve sinned against God’s name
I stole the glory of the one
Whom heaven can’t contain
What a debt I owed
An overwhelming flood
He drank it all
Like only Jesus could
I know who I am
It’s plain enough to see
I must be loved more than I know
If Jesus died for me
The price was set so high
He paid for it in blood
He loved my soul
Like only Jesus could
