Waking Dreams

By mechlo on January 30, 2016 6:09 am

I bought an Elektron Octatrack on Monday and to make this Weekly Beat even harder for myself I set myself the task to both learn the gear AND write a tune for the week. Each part was built as I learned a different part of the machine. In the end it's not quite what I wanted to do but I think I did pretty well considering the task.

All samples are from the Legowelt sample library. So I blame him

More like VERY well...

Octatrack?!?!?!?!  You are going to kill it this year!  Better make all your tracks this year with it, just to be safe.  This sounds like you are having fun!  Looking forward to a future live video of you rocking out?

This thing has been fun but there is sooooo much to it. I still haven't learned the midi effects it can provide. That might be next week's song.

I love the way you free yourself by tightening the rules. And even more, the results are great. To follow your offer to let you know if anybody would like to hear a track featuring a certain combination of synths, I suggest for one of your next songs just to use instruments that contain the letter "M" like in "Mechlo", either at the beginning or inside the name ...

Nice sounds!

when those synths get wet I had to take a shower. Really looking forward to you exploring this medium more! Legowelt sign of approval!!

I tried doing that for this week but my only synth with an M in it's name (MS2000) is having some weird midi issue where it's dropping notes. Thanks for the challenge! I promise I wasn't just disregarding it! smile
