pink week

This week, our wild Japanese cherry tree was once again in full bloom. This incredibly beautiful spectacle only lasts for about a week. Today, it begins to lose its soft pink petals, and when I look out the window, it almost feels like it’s snowing. But I know winter is gone, and spring is on its way.

Musically, I didn’t dig too deep into my gear. I just made some beats on the SP-404, grabbed my OP-1, added a guitar loop, and layered a pad with a vocal sample from an old cassette I found, filled with African music.

The cherry blossoms are lovely to behold. They are such a perfect bridge from winter to spring. We have a neighbor with one right on the perfect spot for everyone to appreciate when it peaks. Unfortunately the blossoms here have all fallen now. The next phase of my spring is waiting for my peonies to pop for mother's day.

Very cool wonky reverbs on this pad/sample. And the vocal snippets are perfect for this groove.
