Immortality

Like many of the people here I'm sure, I was very saddened by the death of Frankie Knuckles this week, but also heartened by how widespread and generous the coverage of his passing was. It was also very refreshing to go back and listen of a lot of his early recordings and those of his contemporaries, and I was struck by how economical yet heartfelt a lot of those first house records were - a few sampled chords, a few triggered drum patterns, restraint and beauty. So here's my tribute to those early house pioneers, made using Piggy Tracker and a similar stripped down workflow. So long Frankie, and thanks for the inspiration.
