Do You Fear An Empty Room?

By mattnida on October 5, 2014 8:34 am

More drones and hip-hop beats this week. Was watching a documentary on the LA beat scene last night (on Youtube, Not A Beat Not A Scene) and rather liked the "anything goes" philosophy at mashing up anything with a laid back hiphop attitude. I think they might baulk at the idea of including a Steve Roach drone-out, but it was worth a go.

Chill vibes. Drums sounds really nice, especially that snare. Very different and interesting how you panned the drumkit around.

Beautiful!

Gorgeous pad, excellent beats and variations!  Well done!

I'm going to watch that documentary right now! Anyway, I really like the whole vibe. Sadly, for ages the hip hop heads had looked away from something other than sampling 70's soul and r'n'b. I like people like Dabrye, who bring a techno sensivity to the beat. I personally try in some of my latest tracks to marry those Berlin School / Tangerine Dream-like synth loops with slow fat beats.

The drone is absolutely awesome. Downloaded and faved. This would reign on my playlist for a loooong time. It's the kind of music I'm aiming for.

Thanks!!!
