Call 911 (I'm On Fire)

By Matt Patrick on April 15, 2012 5:12 pm

The first three minutes of this piece was done in Reason. Loads of verb, everything slowed down to a mere 8 beats per minute. I didn't mind one long ambient piece, but this morning I came across an old 4-track cassette I recorded 17 years ago and at the last minute, put it at the end. My friends and I would record ourselves trying to sing in reverse and then flip the tape over to see if it sounded right (reminiscent of Twin Peaks). This was my attempt at a couple bgv's in harmony as well as a lead vocal (obviously using both terms here loosely!).

Won't you please...
call 911, I'm on fire
Won't you please...
call 911, I'm on fire
911... 911...
Call 911
Can't you see I'm on fire?

i thoroughly enjoy how this sounds

eerily calming. love those backwards-forwards vocals

nice!

When the first vocals came in I was liek 'WHAT THE HECK IS THIS RUN AWAY!" by it was cool by the end.

Wonderful drones.  Nice chordal hold.  Is some of this done with a super short delay?  Great stereo separation.
