Last week I was not able to upload a song because my grandmother passed away and things went a bit hectic. For this week I decided to make a homage to her and started this song by chopping a recording I did some years ago of her telling a very strange story. I used Ableton Live to convert her voice into a harmony that was played by my Juno 106. The rest developed from there.

what an interesting idea. the way that the music evolves out of the vocals is fascinating. in a way this reminds me of telephasic workshop by boards of canada, though perhaps not as much of an emphasis on the vocals as they had in the latter half of the song. the sub bass is very strong! it makes me feel good about the mix. and the groove you get into is really good. good job!

amazing stuff. I wonder what she would have thought about this song!

i'm sorry to hear about your grandmother passing away. excellent use of voice sampling! i think it's a very fitting way of remembering her.

My condolences to you and your family.  This is an awesome way to honor her. That bass drop hit towards the end is extra sweet.  A really cool track and well done!

Cool Stuff. I love voices as a rhythmic element.

Thank you so much! I love Boards of Canada and although I think my style is pretty different, they have really influenced my music in many ways. The bass was made with a DSI Mopho (as always), which is a beast! You have to tame the high end a little, it might be too harsh.

Thanks! But, well, she would probably hate it! wink

Thank you so much! Although one is not able to listen to the story she is telling, the best way to remember her is thought her stories, no doubt. I wanted to capture that vibe, with many different variation on her voice, including some laughs as well.

Thanks! I believe I heard more Matmos then I should, but I have a tendency to use almost everything as rhythmic elements. But this is one of my first experiences with voices.

First of all my dearest condolences. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience.

Your song is excellent as usual. It's true that it has vague traces of "telepatic workshop", but I think I could feel some more Prefuse 73 influence maybe on the awesome way you handle the voice as a rhythmic sound rather than words. Influences aside, your work is very inspiring for me, and I'm replaying your tunes trying to steal the magic of those tapestops and "rodhes hits" wink

Impressive to say the least, Matheus.

Wishing you the best for this week

Awesome, groovy, well done piece and lovely way to honor your grandmother. Digging it! Going to go check out your other tracks now.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! Your work is quite astonishing and this contact with great musicians is the best part of Weeklybeats.
I'm not familiar with Prefuse 73, but I will take a listen for sure! And yeah, I guess I'm using too much "rhodes hits". Composing something without it would be quite a challenge for me! wink
