Rise Above

By Martiln on May 19, 2024 8:00 pm

I had a dream that I went to a Coldplay concert, except Coldplay sounded like Pendulum. I woke up and remembered the melody of the lead synth line and put it into Ableton Live. This is what I ended up making, a far cry from Coldplay. 😂

I've really only written half of the track, but I will definitely go ahead and finish it. big_smile

Lyrics:

Until the end we fight
And after all the pain we’ll rise
Above the ashes white
We make our stand here tonight

We’ll make a stand and we'll rise above

That's a new vibe from you! big_smile Goes super hard! Great job. What does your process look like week to week? You're consistently getting a lot done I feel!

Thank you! I'm very glad you like it. big_smile

The process varies a lot from week to week, but it often starts with some kind of hook like a melody or vocal line that I'll then build out. I rarely start with vocals just because I'm not used to it. If I don't have any ideas I'll just start by building out some kind of atmosphere, ambience or chord progression and see what comes to mind from there. smile

Yes to starting with an atmosphere, that's excellent advice! How much time would you say you spend on a Weeklybeat on average? And do you start from scratch most of the time?

This goes hard and hits just right. Great vibe, and that melody is (heh) dreamy!!
Can't wait to hear the final result!

I'd say that I probably spend anywhere from 4-8 hours on average. I often don't have much more time than that because I'm travelling around a lot this year. And yep, I always start from scratch! I'll sometimes go through 3-4 ideas before settling on one that I'm happy with for the week, but other times I just go with the first thing I come up with. smile
