A Quiet Night

By Martiln on February 1, 2026 9:55 am

A simple one this week.

I run a monthly music-making challenge on my Discord, and it fell in line with this week. The prompt for the challenge this month was to create a track the embodies your favourite place. I chose a quiet, peaceful moment of isolated flow and creativity. So, no DnB this week, but something calming and atmospheric.

Enjoy!

Story

I tapped away on the keyboard, the rest of the night silent around me. The patter of the rain on the tin roof carried on in the background, as I wrote and wrote.

As the scene in my head grew more intense, the sound of the storm seemed to grow fiercer. As the intensity of the scene subsided, so too did the ferocity of the rain. But my focus never wavered. I felt the most calm I have ever felt.

I couldn’t tell you how much time passed. All I could tell you is that as the rain began to falter, the sound of the ticking clock faded into focus and drew me away from the worlds in my mind.

Once the moment was gone, I stood up from my chair, and walked out of the room.

Really cinematic. Loving the stereo space on this. Those rumbling low-end sounds go really well with the rain and piano.

Spooky! heart
