Spring Through A Window

Last Sunday, after posting my last submission, I started working on what I might term a "pentatonic bullshit generator." It's not quite generative and it's not quite an instrument; I think I'd call it something more like a toy. I worked on the patch a bit on Friday and Saturday as well and after playing with it a bit I got it in a place I liked this (Sunday) afternoon. There's a couple things I would've liked to add to give it a bit more texture and to make it more interesting to perform with, but I'm overall pleased. I might embellish it a bit, and some more features and use it again for another WB.

I have really been wanting to kind of continue threads of musical thought throughout the week instead of making a mad rush every Sunday to shove something out the door, and I left little notes and breadcrumbs for myself to pick it back up. Well, this time around I certainly did so better than average, so I consider this submission a very modest success.

As far as the results, well, it's pentatonic bullshit, but for me it's the season for it. Boring but a little too hyper for ambient, maybe like a 3rd rate Tangerine Dream or something. I managed to work my old laptop's CPU pretty hard with 11 detuned wavetable oscillators per voice, so there were some nasty XRUNs, but that was fine because the >13 min jam was in severe need of trimming anyway. Nobody wants to hear that much bullshit.

Definitely hear the spring through the window, also love the idea of a pentatonic bullshit generator, also love this piece. Congrats.

Thank you very much smile I have been wanting to make some kind of PBG for a long time and it was satisfying to build incrementally and to play with. I'm very glad that you got something out of what I made with it smile
