Noise license is back?
Fuck yes. Noise license is back!

fuck yeah, I needed some insanity for the sake of my sanity

thank you. I should do those more. things need to breathe.

I liked those too. verite/laziness demanded that they didn't, though.

I agree. I almost did cut this. I don't remember why I didn't. I think that was when I freaked out at the realization that the quadraverb send might not work how I expected. so the distraction being kept intact was a result of... me getting distracted
* Stereo image is great in this -- how is that done?
not to sound asinine but the stereo image is all Stereo Field! it's kind of wild because there's so many weird interactions possible between the two outputs. it doesn't really make any sense but if you embrace the chaos, there's some pretty cool sounds in there. there wasn't any tweaking of the stereo image beyond moving the window of sample playback around.
process:
- set up a controller template to control Octatrack tracks' (all FLEX) Start and Length parameters
- jam on Stereo Field until I find some choppable sounds
- sample Stereo Field into Octatrack sample buffers
- play around I have the tracks' parameters set up (I had these really dialed in, and then accidentally cleared the buffers, so I filled them back up in anger, but kept the params, and they were still OK)
- set up 2 scenes with different pitch settings (this is part of how the moments you called out were done)
- (throught all this getting a feel for how all those tracks interact)
- jam with both OT (via controller) and Stereo Field, one take
- trim
- set Quadraverb send envelopes, (also, as mentioned, freak out about routing possibly not working because so many other things have gone wrong)
- set up MIDI routings on Quadraverb: pre-delay, decay, diffusion, density, low freq decay, high freq decay
- press play, jam on Quadraverb params, sort of dub-style I guess
Sounds both lively and eerie. Love the contrast between the sense of nasal dryness in some moments and the washed-out exhaust in others.
I closed some bug tickets while listening to this, and it was a way better experience that usual. Sometimes my mouse clicks would time with some spaced out glitch gas sound and I'd be like hells yes I OWN THESE BUGS!
This does seem like walking down some dark hallway with rooms opening and things popping out from inside. Wild sounds, surprises around every corner, which is fun trip! I want to read that massive thread above now ...
greatest random noises. makes my brain insane. well done.

Almost kinda spooky.

man that sounds like a hoot, and this is totally BUG sounds. glad to be the soundtrack of that. yeah this is totally horror vibes.
Powerful and direct in places, meditative and distant in others, always following its own logic. I like it.
