On Oceans Blue (Awake) - Musical

By Laohu on January 26, 2014 9:42 pm

I decided to use Weekly Beats to write a musical and here's the first song.

A somewhat-mad scientist is striving to bring a robot to life. But this robot is meant to be so much more, he is meant to be the old scientist's son.

The lyrics and vocal melody will likely go through a lot of changes (ran out of time) and I have a cold, so the vocals are a bit shoddy but I also stink at recording vocals, so any tips there are appreciated.

I love the musical idea, fits great with WB!  It's a bit rough, but I like how the urgency increases towards the end.  Looking forward to the rest of the story...

Is this the first weekly-generated musical ever!? Great idea...the organ riff makes me want to fight a castlevania boss smile

That's a really cool idea! Well done! A suggestion for recording vocals, even though I have never done it, would be to keep the volume of all the vocals the same after recording - as in when you want a softer section, don't adjust the volume after recording, but actually sing with a softer voice. It just came to my mind because in the opening the vocal sounds like he's standing far away.

Nice idea of the musical. This sounds good. smile But, add lyrics, please? smile It sometime gets difficult to figure out the speech without words writ along. roll

Heh, I'll include lyrics in the future, I wrote the lyrics and melody and recorded them in about 30 minutes, so I'm not particularly proud of them and they will be changed significantly.
