Cundalini wants his Drums Back

By lament.config on April 7, 2024 1:19 pm

My second attempt at percussion.  I was aiming for an industrial/death industrial sound and what I ended up with is something closer to what a rhythmic noise party might sound like in a Mad Max film.  I don't hate it but I also have no idea how to mix something like this, so much to learn.

Made in Ableton, all shiny and chrome.

WITNESS ME!

my guy that was so heavy! Love it. it's so aggressive, awesome job.

Oh wow those drum punches are really heavy. Almost sounds like a giant metal door that is being hit by a battering ram or something. Later on it sounds like hammers on an anvil. Like the music of a thunderous forge or mine. Really really cool!

It's been an absolute pleasure to see you go through this creative journey this year.

This is way too bleak and harsh for a Mad Max film. This is more...if Trepaneringsritualen and Nordvargr directed and scored a Hellraiser film.

You've really outdone yourself this year. Very keen to see how you created this and learn from you.

Thanks man, this one was a lot of fun to make.

Thank you.  The drums are from a percussion kit of smacking various metal objects so their certainly could be an anvil in there.  One day I'll get a contact mic and learn how to record my own.

I mean, wow, thank you.  It has been really fun and interesting so far, curious to see what I'm writing at years end.  Also, I really want to see that version of Hellraiser now!!!

I'm a sucker for a pleasing distortion tone. Those wide fizzes are delightful. The stereo flamming compressor pump from the main percussive sound does weird things to my head. Was that intentional? Very effective if so!

I'd be lying if I said it was intentional, more a happy coincidence.  I was trying to space out the sounds as the distortion was kind of blurring everything together.

If it sounds awesome, then it’s always intentional. Even if subconsciously big_smile
