You watching me dreaming of you (Future of Dancehall mix)

Finally, after several weeks, I can say I'm pretty proud of this one smile

For once, I started with the melody, rescuing some basic loops I made using a mono sequencer prototype for Ableton I used to run with my Launchpad back in ... 2013!

I started with the arps mixed with some simpler lead, then a bassline, then some breaks and finally some drum machine kit to fill all the empty spaces. I had some interesting vocal samples but I felt everything was quite tight to maake room for them, so I prefered to leave them out.

IMHO the groove is quite interesting on this one. Kinda reggaeton/dancehall-"ish", maybe?

As usual, I'm on duty, so I'm waking tomorrow at 6 AM. I should be sleeping right now. Hope you have an excellent week, wherever you are. Lots of love for you, WB family !!!

Might feel dancehall but just because the kick hits a certain way, original

Eyes following, seeing what is

What will come

Enjoying the moment

Gracias por la escucha y los comentarios!!!

The beat has a lot of groove. It's cool how you mixed some laser like sounds / digital sounds in the beat at some points, that was a cool effect. The bell melodies initially reminded me of Christmas, but I guess a super groovy Christmas party. Very nice break at 2:25 - simple but tasty! That little synth line was sooooo good.

All "laser" sounds came from the "electronic/808"-ish sound of the otherwise pretty lame soundset of the Boss Doctor Rhythm 550 mk 1: it's a little drum machine I love to hate because it was my first, and even though I got rid of it, I'm super familiar with its sounds and keep them at hand smile

I always try to mix old school hip hop "vinyl"-ish breaks with some "colder" drum machines. The two patterns are somewhat simple but when alternating and combining them, I think they built a greater groove.

Back in the nineties, I was always divided in between my love for rave/ambient synths and soulful funky beats, while much of the music tended to fall into one side. Of course, there was always a perfect balance in some Ninja Tune and Mo'Wax stuff, to name a few.

Thanks a lot for your continuous feedback, Kedbreak smile

Those are some great flabby drum sounds.  They have a lot of character,  I would love to get that sound with my live drum recordings.  I like how they contrast with the crisp drums going back and forth.  The stereo panning is great on this also.

oo i dig.  hits a certain vibe i associate for some reason with the OP-1, like https://mfzrecords.bandcamp.com/track/flaslk
