Sleeping subaquatic creature

By laguna on May 24, 2020 10:38 pm

Not much time for music this week, though work is getting easier and quieter and there's some more calm moments. Getting things ready. Just nine days to end the shift smile

This one's pretty simple. Sort of a "laptop live performance". I didn't have any suitable control surface so I had to do it with the mouse, one slider at a time.

All made with VCV Rack and just slight limiting and final subtle delay with Ableton 10, mostly in order to hide certain glitches and pops. It seems that my computer is not powerful enough for the resource-hog that is VCV Rack (maybe if I use some real reverb and delay pedals) combined with it, I could ease the CPU load a little bit and really "perform" it, so to speak.

Imagine a colossal octopus/jellyfish-like creature, all peaceful and slow, quietly swimming underwater, the size of a big ship, just dreaming its own underwater dreams. Imagine you could dive next to it and feel the ocean while the creature breaths.

Maybe I'll dream about it tonight. I should be sleeping now, surely.

Lots of love to all of you, WB creatures, wherever you are around the world. smile

Soundtrack for wandering around an aquarium looking at the jellyfish tanks.

LOL I wrote that before I read your description, looks like you did your job perfectly with this tune. Pretty cool that you managed to communicate that idea.

he's literally just vibin' - lovely LFO usage and perfect underwater feel! really enjoy the way the tempo fluctuates

Whoah, I'm quite flattered you got the same vision as me. This started as a quick jam, but somewhat was nice to "perform" it instead of just "sit there and watch". I will work on my VCV setup so I could have a glitchless setup next time.

Thanks a lot for all your continuous feedback and words of encouragement, Hieme!!!

I'm really glad you dig the vibe, MidiMachine smile

One of the things I really love when using modular is using an LFO as a clock source, to get that "breathing" effect smile

I feel like the clicks and pops add to the overall experience. Really sweet ambient tune, man.

Think I might take some scuba classes.

oh wow... it's gorgeous...

I've never managed to get into vcv rack... but this is really enticing me... it's so etherial and serene...

I downloaded it; because I need it in my life somehow...

I'm back for more...
