New Jack dancer

By laguna on April 16, 2014 12:00 am

I was feeling a little bit Nineties this week... Well, not exactly wink

Tools of the trade: Ableton Live, Korg Poly 61M, Korg Monotron, some vocals from some kids doing some goofy screencast on youtube, credited as CC-BY, and a recreation of a famous hip hop sample, taken from an old Future Music magazine.

Hope you like it

Hi, Edmund!

Try "New Jack Swing" on Youtube and you'll get the idea. Not exactly the music, but I was aiming at some Fresh Prince Of Bel Air moves. Roger Rabbit, the Running Man... Man, I'm old!

I DO like it! Actually better than most of the new jack I've heard (which tends to have too much emphasis on the percussion). I could listen to this all day.

oh my god jim, it's got the groove! all stations grab the volume button and turn it clockwise!

Man, you really have a great knack for prolonging interest out of reasonably repetitive material, the variations are fantastic and the breaks! Oh the breaks!

Hey, thanks man! I'm quite aware I've got serious difficulties developing a melody. It's really difficult for me, so I learnt some little tricks to keep the listener's attention over a basic idea.

I hope to improve my composition skills so I could balance those repetitions... Although deep inside I'll oalways be a beatmaker who loves heavy breaks ha ha!

Thanks for listening!
