In transit

Created during the previous 5 hours to the deadline. Don't expect anything fancy.

I had some vague arpeggios and a bunch of old 32 VSTs playing under Linux through the Yabridge plugin wrapper, without a hiccup. The initial phrase was more a test than a song, but I had to hold to something, so I added a simple beat using my Renoise drumkits.

I try to make a new one as often as I can, but today it was just the trusty Roland CR78 and some 909.

Strings built with some basic "Choir" waveforms from the Roland JV 1080, taken from Roland Cloud's version, not the hardware (does it make any difference?).

I'd love to master it properly, because I didn't have my usual copy of Ableton 10 at hand to apply my tried-and-true mastering chain, but the Linux Studio Plugin suite seems promising.

I think it ended sounding quite messy and all over the place, but there are maybe some interesant ideas here. Or maybe not.

Wishing you the best. Still under some strong workload, I've been almost absent from my own comments... I should fix that ASAP

Have a great week, WB family, wherever you are in the world smile

Demoscene vibes are strong in this one! We hit almost the same duration this week.

Thank you, rplktr! Maybe it's the chiptuny lead, using ymVST, an old windows plugin that imitates the Atari SY YM2149F chip. Beats are slightly badly mixed IMHO, but I usually run drum machine through guitar amp emulations so I get a different sound from them, though this time I think I forgot to keep some original signal in order to add heavyness.

Great compliment, the Demoscene one. Cheers !!!

love this. really cool chords and the drums sound on point, love that CR78!

always a fan of how the cr78 sounds mixed in tracks.  Demoscene and also some breakdancin/skate-boardin vibes felt thru this.  The arps and chordy pads sound nice as well.

Mmm that chippy lead is delicious. Nice work!
