Craving

I uploaded this one just seconds before the deadline. "Craving" just because it started as a silly Berlin School doodle on a Behringer Crave.

That precise doodle sounded good but was pointless as f*ck, so I rendered as a 1 minute and a half audio jam and dumped the whole thing into Ableton, set the warp algorithm to "repitch" and decreased the tempo from 128 bpm (original) to a more hip hoppy 82 bpm.

I added a last minute beat constructed using stock Elektron Machinedrum samples and some SP1200 swing.

The original hardware jam had 4 takes and 2 fx sends. This just used the beat (1), the bounced jam (2) and some copy in reverse to fill the gaps while pretending I know how to build atmospheres (3).

All this goes to a amplitude-modulated filter, a vocoder, and two delays, so the melodies are going to build themselves according to the beat interaction... sort of.

Well, guess it's a super boring rant, but that was the technique. Guess it needs something, but I'm still catching my breath and it doesn't even have a proper fade out.

I hope to catch up with all the excellent releases on the channel. Just 7 weeks to go.. why every good thing must end so quickly?

Lots of love to all of you, wherever you are!!!

I think you succeeded at building an atmosphere here.

I can never resist a good slowed down hip hop banger, this hits all the right spots for me.
