Chippy Choopy

By laguna on May 26, 2024 11:59 pm

"Chippy" is from chiptune. "Choopy" comes from "Chupi", a really childish eighties spanish expression for something cool. I guess little kids these days won't understand what I was talking about if I told them something is "chupi", but I wanted to make some "playground fake modular jam" before going to sleep.

Made in Renoise within the last two hours of the deadline.

4 tracks using 4 single cycle wavetable instruments from Renoise internal library, slightly tweaked, 2 FX sends with fantastic EchoVibe and EchoVerb under Linux. No external mastering.

The project is less than 23 kilobytes in size.

Pretty simple and repetitive, I know, but quite effective if you want to take a nap smile

A nice slow track. The large chords with the delay/echo effect that resonate into the infinity are really a nice effect.

This is fantastic! I love the deep sounding beeps and boops, and I'm a sucker for some nice reverb & delay. This ticks all the boxes!

Sorry for the late (really late) reply. I didn't mean to be rude, but life kept being in the way

Thanks a lot. It's one of my send "signature presets" (if my tracks have any kind of signature). I usually put a delay as first send, sometimes with a slight modulation, and my second send is a huuuuuge reverb, somewhat "shimmery"). Guaranteed to cover up my mostly mediocre arrangements in a sea of new notes I couldn't think for myself smile

Would be lovely to share the effect chain if you're interested and use Ableton smile

Thanks a lot for listening and commenting smile

Ah, thanks a lot for the appreciation. If you read my previous answer, I explain my process, which is basically very simple, like instant Berlin school. Same invitation to share, if you are interested. MRDRCAT

Thanks a lot for listening!!!

I like the description "instant Berlin school!" Sadly I do not use Ableton, but that can't stop me from listening to your track and deconstructing your secrets! smile

Haha Please be my guest? What do you usually use? I'm also fluent in Renoise and slowly improving my game in Reaper. I've been dabling into FL Studio lately, and also have some spare projects in Studio One.

Just in case you enjoy sharing tips smile

I am DAW-illiterate for the most part! For the past 2+ years I've been using the Dirtywave M8 tracker almost exclusively. As I am still a beginner in music production, I don't have many tips I'm afraid. I'm still trying to remember to add variety and leave space in my tracks!

Oh, quite impressive! I am familiar with the LSDJ / LittleGPT workflow, though I've just produced a few songs with it over the year. The Dirtywave M8 seems quite deep and complex, so I respect your commitment to one single tool. It always gives great results!
